Day 232

Ezekiel 14:1-16:63 (NIV)

What does it take to get your attention? As I was reading these passages, I couldn’t help but think that I am occasionally like the Israelites and need something bold to capture my attention. The imagery used in these chapters is harsh and blunt, and at times, it may seem inappropriate. In Ezekiel 14:6 the request, however, is clear. “This is what the Sovereign Lord Says: Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!” The Israelites, however, needed more, and at times, we need more reminders too. Let these verses prompt us today to remember that we worship the One True God. The Lord says, “Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you … and you will know that I am the Lord.” (Ezekiel 16: 60, 62 NIV) If we serve God on a daily basis, we will be blessed!
