Isaiah 48:12-52:12 (NASB)

Many may have heard of the statement that the Old Testament is “Christ concealed” and the New Testament is “Christ revealed.” The readings for today provide some examples of reading the Old Testament with “New Testament eyes.”
Isaiah 48:12 -13: “Listen to me, O Jacob even Israel whom I called; I am He, I am the first, I am also the last. Surely My hand founded the earth, and My right hand spread out the heavens…”
Jesus speaking in Revelation 1:8: “I am the Alpha and the Omega”.
Colossians 1:15-16: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created…”
Isaiah 49:1: “…The Lord called Me from the womb; From the body of My mother He named Me.”
The angel Gabriel speaking to Mary: Luke 1:31: “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus”.
Matthew 1:21: “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Isaiah 50:5-6: “The Lord God has opened My ear; and I was not disobedient Nor did I turn back. I gave My back to those who strike Me; And My cheeks to those who pluck out the beard; I did not cover My face from humiliation and spitting.”
Matthew 27:29-30: “And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews! They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head.”
As we have been focusing on the Old Testament, may we recognize how rich it is with descriptions of Jesus. Colossians 1:26-27: “that is, the mystery which has been hidden from the past ages and generations, but now has been manifested to His saints, to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
From Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”/John1:1-3: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.” Through to the full disclosure of Jesus Christ in the Book of Revelation, the Bible consists 66 books written by 40 different authors over a period of 1,500 – 2,000 years – all focused on our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus, help us to see You revealed in the mysteries of the Old Testament and may this strengthen our faith, our commitment, and our walk with You today.
