Day 199

Isaiah 24:1-27:13; Isaiah 29:1-24 (NIV)
Doug Underhill, Governing Board Based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, my personality type is INFJ (introversion, intuition, feeling, judging). A previous co-worker of mine said that he was going to watch out for me since my type would be judgmental, but would never say anything, thus robbing the accused of a chance to defend himself. I prefer to think of myself as discerning and kind, but there is probably some truth wrapped up in that co-worker’s concern. Who am I to judge? Now God on the other hand, is the perfect judge, and He is not introverted and has made it very clear through the prophet Isaiah how His judgment will play out. The Lord knows what is not Holy, and He will decide when and how to apply judgment upon those who “go on doing evil.” Even though the thought of God laying waste to the earth is a scary one, we can praise Him for His perfect judgment on this grand scale and for the judgment He applies on a smaller scale to our lives so that we might learn righteousness. In fact, Isaiah presents a song of praise that proclaims salvation and peace for those who put their trust in the Lord, and the assurance that our oppressors will no longer be in a position to oppress. We should pray for Israel, we should pray for the forgiveness we need, and we should pray for a generous portion of mercy and grace for other sinners during the judgment to come. But we also need to leave it to the perfect judge to sort it all out and continue to trust and praise the Lord under all circumstances.
